A case involving orthopaedic doctor who was arrested by the city police for promoting pornographic websites has taken a new turn with the police investigating the doctor ' s alleged links with a former DMK Minister.

The 43-year-old orthopaedician L Prakash, hailing from Kerala, was yesterday remanded to police custody till 2 January, and interrogated. Police are making enquiries to find out about those affected by the activities of the doctor, who was a resident of Nerkundram.

Prakash was arrested following a complaint filed by a youth from Pondicherry, who said that the doctor was blackmailing him and forcing him to have sex with women to shoot pornographic videos and pictures.

He (Prakash) is said to have used young boys and women to shoot nude pictures. Also, he is stated to have uploaded nude pictures on the internet.

The police registered a case against Prakash under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, Section 4 read with 6 of Indecent Representation of Women Act read with Section 27 of the Arms Act, 120 B and 506 (2) of IPC.

The accused, who settled down in Chennai 10 years ago,started the pornographic websites www.tamilsex.com and www.realindiaporno.com and was busy with his X-rated business for the past 10 years.

The doctor had reportedly lured several college girls and working women for taking pornographic videos and nude pictures by offering them huge sums of money. The pornographic materials were sold by him to earn a living apart from running his clinic.

Prakash, whose brother Lakshmanan is in the US, had an agreement with the latter to sell pornographic videos in the West and to earn thousands of dollars. Based on a complaint filed by a youth at the Vadapalani police station, Prakash was arrested.

In his complaint, the youth, Ganesh, studying in a tutorial college, stated that the doctor was blackmailing him and forcing him to have sex with women to shoot porno videos and pictures. When Ganesh refused to yield, the doctor reportedly threatened him with a revolver and forced him to have sex with women so that pornographic videos could be made.

Prakash came into contact with the youth through the latter ' s girlfriends in the tutorial college. Apart from using college girls, Prakash used women working in his clinic for the racket. He also circulated the blue films and nude pictures through e-mail from his house.
