The two- day `Kalai Vizha' on Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar organised by the Department of Art and Culture (Pondicherry Administration) begins at Ammayar Kalai Arangam at Karaikal on Thursday. The Social Welfare Minister, M. Chandhirakasu (elected from Neduncadu reserved constituency in Karaikal), will inaugurate the festival under the chairmanship of the Tourism and Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan.

The programme would be marked by Poets' Forum which would deal with different facets of Bharathiar's poems. The concluding day (January 18) programme would be marked by a symposium on the poet. A `patti mandram' on `Panchali Sabatham' is also arranged.
