Police have arrested a student, who sent an e-mail to the Kanyakumari District Collectorate at Nagercoil, threatening to "finish off" AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa and Education Minister M Thambidurai before February end.

The student was produced before a magistrate at Tirunelveli today, who remanded him to judicial custody till February 18, police said.

The student was upset over the proposed changes in the `improvement examinations' conducted by the Government for the 10th standard and Plus Two students and had sent the e-mail, they added.

Meanwhile, another e-mail, with a similar message, was received at the Karur District Collectorate two days back, police said, adding investigations were on to trace its origin.
